Video Games Guide |
We wonder if anyone of the current thirty- and twenty-somethings can
imagine their childhood without video games. It seems impossible,
doesn't it? That perfect way to pass the time, alone or with friends to
keep you company, a perfect distraction from boring homework or
frustrating homework... From early school days to the semi-adult
college times, video games have been a welcome way of relaxation for
us.
Modern children, in order to be more cool and up-to-date,
frequently prefer the new and improved version - computer video games,
but in
many ways they are those same RPG
video games and video
arcade
games we all used to indulge into for hours on end, only
without
the video games
consoles as
such (oh the poor kids of today, they don't know what fascinating topic
of discussion they're missing). And, of course, we adults also sneak to
the sites that provide such versions of video games to find the video
games that highlighted our youth, only now some of us may prefer to
pick up an adult video
game now
or then - finally we have the moral and legal right to see what has
been a fascinating secret to our childhood personalities. But let's
face it, more often than not, when we walk into a video game store by
chance, what
fascinates us most of all nowadays are those exact video games we used
to enjoy as children. In the sheer simplicity which somehow manages to
be heavily loaded with adrenaline-inspiring rush that our favorite
video games provide we find the perfect cure to the stresses of our
adult lives - much awaited and longed for as kids, tiring as we
actually live them.
Video games have a sort of enchantment around them,
a commonplace magic that makes it possible to return to the days of
carefree innocence that seem further away as we grow up and up.
Browsing through video
games
reviews, picking up Nintendo
video games designed for thirteen-year-olds, we go through a
sort
of a time-travel experience, knowing that we still have it in us to be
awed and amazed by the simplest things that video games generally are.
Digging a video
games
playstation out of the depths of your closet is like making a
swift
trip down the memory lane and returning to a place where all the happy
memories are, the imaginary Neverland made real by the presence of the
video games you played then and can play again now. True, many new ways
of entertainment on a similar base have been awaited over the decades,
including the computer games that have the player overwhelmed by the
unbelievable sensation of reality, but video games are special in the
way that they are what we have grown up to.
No matter how many new
computers are invented, no matter how close the scientists come to the
actual appearance of the much spoken-about artificial intelligence, for
each of us video games will still hold a charm that is always going to
be impossible to resist.
